Top 25 Songs Ever!
So, in my search to find a new "bloggable thought," I found inspiration by looking at my ITunes. If you think a song not on the list has been overlooked or if you disagree with any of my picks I encourage everyone to comment. So for your viewing pleasure, my top 25 songs of all time:
25. Open Road Song by Eve 6- This song won't get any points from serious music critics but put it in your car stereo roll down your window and take off and you will understand the appeal of this song.
24. Don't Stop Believing by Journey- Yeah, its cheesy eighties music, but it may be the best written cheesy eighties song out there.
23.
22. You Oughta Know by Alanis Morrisette- Alanis brings home the award for best angry woman song ever written.
21. What I Got by Sublime- The best song written by a band that ended far too soon.
20. Wonderwall by Oasis- This is a perfectly written British pop song.
19. Teenage Wasteland by the Who- Guitar, synthesizer, or whatever they play in the introduction is crazy and makes for a great song.
18. Kiss From A Rose by Seal- A great R&B tune, to bad it had to be on a soundtrack of a shitty movie (Batman Forever).
17. Piano Man by Billy Joel- Great song written by an incredibly gifted musician conveys the emotion of the characters in the song better than any other song.
16.
15. Stellar by Incubus- What a song, "Drive" got more play but this is the heart and soul of the Incubus collection.
14. Round Here by Counting Crows- An extremely sad song, but still extremely well written, Counting Crows at their finest.
13. Dammit by Blink 182- A great teen angst emo punk song! This song was made before the likes of Simple Plan destroyed the genre. Plus an extremely funny music video.
12. Be Like That by 3 Doors Down- Great song by a great band, for some reason I always turn it on when I am sad or depressed.
11. Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen- Wayne’s World car scene with this song, enough said.
10. My Girl by The Temptations- One of those songs that you just can’t help singing along to. Plus if you sing it to a female you earn instant brownie points.
9. Where the Streets Have No Name by U2- The ultimate U2 song.
8. Crossroads by Bone Thugs N Harmony- Really the only song by a hip hop group on this list, an excellent heartfelt song.
6. Summerland by Everclear- The best song off the album “Sparkle and Fade,” one of the greatest alternative albums ever made.
5. London Calling by The Clash- What can I say, The Clash is sweet!
4. Ticket to Ride by The Beatles- I could replace this list with 25 Beatles songs and still call it the 25 best songs ever, but for varieties sake I will only use one and I chose this one.
3. Come As You Are by Nirvana- Smells like Teen Spirit was their anthem but Come as You Are is what Curt Cobain was all about.
2. Free Fallin' by Tom Petty- An amazingly simple guitar riff that even I can play but one of the most amazing sand bittersweet songs ever written.
1. Wouldn’t It Be Nice by The Beach Boys- Brian Wilson is a genius. This song has catchy hooks, meaningful lyrics, and that certain quality that allows for it to never grow old.
honorable mention- Torn by Creed, Crush by The Dave Matthews Band, Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson, Plush by Stone Temple Pilots, Don’t Speak by No Doubt, Turn the Page by Bob Segar, Regulator by Warren G, Mr. Jones by Counting Crows, 4 AM by Our Lady Peace.
